Bed-Stuy
Bedford-Stuyvesant borders our end of Bushwick, and from much of the neighborhood we are a short ride on the J, Z or M, or a quick trip down Broadway.
Gold and jewelry make up a large part of what comes to us from Bed-Stuy — chains, rings, bracelets, and inherited pieces that families are ready to part with. We test and weigh everything in front of you on a certified scale, and we explain what karat we are reading and how we arrived at the number.
We also see a steady flow of sneakers and electronics. Whatever you are bringing, it is one counter and one visit.

FAQs
BED-STUY Questions
How do you test gold?
Acid testing for karat, plus an electronic tester where it helps, then we weigh it on a certified scale in front of you. We tell you the karat and the weight before we talk about a number, so you can see exactly how we got there.
Will you buy inherited jewelry that is broken or mismatched?
Yes. Broken chains, single earrings, bent rings and tangled lots are all worth money — gold is gold regardless of whether the piece is wearable. Bring it as it is; there is no need to sort or repair anything first.
Do I need paperwork for jewelry?
Not for most pieces — just your photo ID, which New York requires for every purchase. Diamond certificates help if you have them, and receipts are useful for branded pieces, but neither is required.
