SELL YOUR Louis Vuitton Speedy for Cash in Brooklyn, NYC
The Speedy is the oldest bag in continuous production at Louis Vuitton — it began as the Express in the 1930s, a scaled-down travel bag made for daily use. That longevity means there are a great many of them in circulation, across nine decades of production, and the condition range we see is wider than on any other bag we handle.
The single most important thing to establish is whether yours is a Bandoulière. The version that comes with a detachable shoulder strap is materially more desirable than the classic handheld, because the handheld-only silhouette has fallen out of favour for daily use. Two otherwise identical Speedys can price quite differently on that basis alone.
Beyond that, the Speedy is unstructured, which is the source of most of its condition problems. It has no rigid base, so it sags, and the corners and base piping take the weight of whatever has been carried in it.

What Moves The Number
WHAT YOUR Offer DEPENDS ON
Bandoulière or handheld
The most consequential single factor. A Speedy with its detachable strap is a considerably easier sell than a handheld-only bag, because that is how people carry it now. If you have the strap, bring it — if you bought a Bandoulière and lost the strap, say so, because it is worth sourcing.
Vachetta and base piping
The handles darken and the piping along the base takes the abrasion. Water spotting and ink on the vachetta are permanent. Piping that has worn through to the cord underneath is the most common structural flaw on an older Speedy.
Shape and sag
There is no rigid base, so a Speedy that has been overloaded or stored empty for years collapses into itself. Some slouch is normal and expected; a bag that will not stand at all reads as tired and prices lower.
Size against demand
The 25 and 30 carry the market — the 25 especially, as smaller bags have come back into favour. The 35 and 40 are slower and our offer reflects the time to place them.

FAQs
LV SPEEDY Questions
Is a Speedy Bandoulière worth more than a regular Speedy?
Yes, and the gap is significant. The detachable shoulder strap is how most people want to carry the bag now, and a handheld-only Speedy is a harder sell for that reason alone. If you have the strap, bring it in with the bag.
The base piping on my Speedy is worn through. Can it be repaired?
It can be replaced, and Louis Vuitton will do it, but the cost rarely makes sense purely to improve a resale offer. Bring the bag as it is — worn piping is extremely common on older Speedys and we price it as normal wear rather than damage.
Which Speedy size sells best?
The 25, followed closely by the 30. Smaller bags have been in favour for several years now and the 25 has benefited most. The 35 and 40 take considerably longer to place.
Should I clean the handles before selling?
No. Untreated vachetta cannot be home-cleaned without lifting the patina unevenly and leaving permanent water rings, and it is the most common self-inflicted damage we see. We price patina as expected wear.
