Sell MacBook

SELL YOUR MacBook for Cash in Brooklyn, NYC

Laptops depreciate more gently than phones but they depreciate relentlessly, and MacBooks have one specific cliff worth knowing about: the transition away from Intel. Intel-based MacBooks have fallen off the supported-macOS list, and once a machine stops receiving OS updates its resale value drops sharply and does not recover.

MacBook models we buy

Apple silicon machines are a different story. An M-series MacBook Air or Pro holds value better than almost any other laptop on the market, because the performance still feels current years after purchase and the battery life remains genuinely competitive with new hardware.

We test every machine at the counter: boot, display, keyboard, trackpad, ports, speakers, camera, and the battery cycle count from the system report. You see the diagnostics as we run them.

What We Buy

WE TAKE All Of It

  • MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, all Apple silicon generations
  • Intel MacBooks — worth less, still worth selling
  • Machines with cracked screens, dead keys or failing batteries
  • Laptops with swollen batteries (bring them in a bag, not a backpack)
  • Units with an active AppleCare+ plan
  • Sealed and open-box machines

What Moves The Number

WHAT YOUR Offer DEPENDS ON

Apple silicon versus Intel

The largest single divider in MacBook resale. An M-series machine and an Intel machine of similar age and spec are not in the same market, because one still gets macOS updates and the other does not.

Battery cycle count

Found in System Settings under General, About, System Report, Power. Under 300 cycles reads as lightly used. Above 800 and the battery is near the end of its rated life, which a buyer will factor in.

Activation Lock

Same rule as iPhones. Sign out of your Apple Account and turn off Find My before selling — a locked MacBook cannot be reset for the next owner.

RAM and storage configuration

Memory and SSD are soldered on Apple silicon, so the configuration is permanent. Upgraded RAM and larger drives command real premiums because no one can add them later.

EVERY Condition CONSIDERED

No marks on the lid or deck, low cycle count, everything functional.

02

Light desk wear, healthy battery, all keys and ports working.

03

FAQs

MACBOOK Questions

What do I need to do before selling my MacBook?

Back up first. Then sign out of your Apple Account, turn off Find My, and use the Erase All Content and Settings option in System Settings. If you cannot boot the machine, bring it anyway and bring your Apple Account details with you.

Is my Intel MacBook worth anything?

It is worth less than an Apple silicon machine, sometimes dramatically so, because it has aged off Apple's macOS support list. That said, they still sell — for students, for basic office work, and for parts. It is worth more today than it will be next year.

My battery is swollen and the trackpad is lifting. Can I bring it in?

Yes, and please transport it carefully in a rigid bag rather than crushed in a backpack. A swollen cell is a genuine fire risk. We buy these machines — the board, screen and chassis all retain value.

Do you buy MacBooks with a cracked screen?

We do. Display assemblies are among the most expensive Mac repairs, so it does affect the offer, but a cracked-screen MacBook with a healthy board is still a valuable machine.

Do you need the original charger?

It helps and we would rather have it, since MacBook power adapters are expensive to replace individually. Bring it if you have it, but a missing charger will not stop the sale.
